Do you want a worship service:
...where you don't have to stand up for 30 minutes?
...where you don't have to "turn the volume down?"
...where you're given at least a few moments to pray and meditate?
...where politics are left at the front door and God's word is proclaimed rather than a party platform?
...where all Christians are invited to share in the Lord's Supper (communion) each sunday? If so, you're getting warmer!
First Christian Church of Terrell, TX, believes that the whole point of worship is just that, to worship the Lord, the living God through his Son, our savior, Jesus Christ, in the power of the Holy Spirit. You're invited to join your voice with ours this Sunday at 10:50 am as we worship the living God.

Our aim is to bring Glory to God, by knowing Jesus Christ and making him known to others. In all our activities we try to explain the Bible clearly, so that people can understand and respond to its message. We especially aim to help anyone wanting to investigate the claims of Jesus Christ.

We welcome people at any stage of Christian understanding and hope to serve everyone who comes here. Information about our Sunday service and other programsis listed, but please do
contact us if we can help you further.

Minister’s Newsletter Article

Well, I have now been here at FCC for two full months.  You have all been simply wonderful!  I am so excited about the life and ministry of this church!  There is a great history of things that are and have been, but there is also great potential for service and ministry that is yet to come.  We are jump starting our youth programming as well as beginning to search for a new Youth Minister!  In April we will be focusing on two other areas in the life of the church.  One area involves the “Great Commission.”  As we seek to know Christ and make him known to others, we are commissioned by Christ to go and make disciples.  We will discuss how to go about doing this very thing.  We will intentionally begin to wrestle with that dreaded “E” word that strikes fear in the minds of many who hear it; Evangelism.

The other focal point for us this month will be outreach.  How can we get our hands dirty for Jesus?  When people around Terrell and people that are new to the community hear the name First Christian Church, what do they say?  What ministries are we doing for the community and for God that help define who we are and how we are called to be servants of Jesus Christ?  Please pray about these questions and upcoming challenges.  Again, I am blessed to be here and serve such a warm and loving part of the Body of Christ.  God bless you all!

                                                                Peace in Christ,

                                                                Jeff

REPORT FROM YOUR
OUTREACH COMMITTEE

The purpose of FCC's Outreach Committee is to “promote a sound program of world and local outreach including both the causes and programs of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and local outreach causes.”  That means keeping the congregation aware of the special day offerings we take every year AND directing our attention to local needs.

The committee has begun its promotion of this year’s Outreach Ministries and through the year you will be hearing much more about its choices.  For instance, you have already contributed $388.60 to Week of Compassion so that First Christian Church, Terrell can have a part in ministering to the needy at home and abroad in times of disaster as well as $252.50 to the special Easter offering which provides, among other things, care for elderly retired ministers.  There will be four more special outreach offerings during the year (Pentecost, Reconciliation, Thanksgiving and Christmas) when our congregation has the opportunity to combine our resources with those of other churches to REACH OUT TO THE WORLD’S NEEDY. Let’s be generous in our giving.

Locally we have many opportunities to support ongoing ministries to the needy such as: “The Share Center”, “The Genesis Center”, “Healing Hearts Ministry”, “Juliette Fowler Home”, “Meals On Wheels” ,“The Children’s Shelter” and “Terrell State Hospital.”

During the year the Outreach Committee will be bringing to you specific opportunities to HEARTS MINISTRY” as our special outreach project this year.  You will soon be asked to bring personal care items for women and children which we will donate to this ministry.  There will be a special container for this collection and these are the items we will dedicate each Sunday when we take the offering.  You will receive a list of personal care items needed and if we receive more than Healing Hearts needs we can also share these items with other ministries to women and children. participate in these and other local ministries.  At its March meeting the Committee voted to select “HEALING

Can We Pray for You?
The group that comes for daily morning prayer (M-F, 7:30 AM ) would like to pray for you. We will be listing a member's name five days a week in the church newsletter calendar, indicating when we will pray for you. We will also be including the names of those on our current Prayer List, found in the bulletin and the newsletter. Please email if you have any names or concerns you would like added to our prayer list. And think about joining us some morning from 7:30 - 7:45 AM in the sanctuary. We're praying for you by name according to how you're listed in the new pictorial directory. Not everyone had their picture made, but don't worry. We'll come to those names, which are listed in the back of the directory, after we go through the names under the photos. We haven't forgotten you!

And should you come into the promised land
Remember, remember
From where you came
And if your greatest fears are realized
Remember, remember
Your sanctuary.
